Why MoMo rent tracking goes wrong
Most Ghanaian landlords collect rent through MoMo. Most also lose track of it. Here is how it happens:
The sender reference goes missing. A tenant pays and forgets to type "November rent — House 4" in the reference. You get "MoMo credit GHS 1,500 from 0244…" and now you have to remember which tenant that number belongs to.
Two tenants use the same short code. Your agent sent one MoMo short code to every tenant. Payments come in with no tenant tag. Reconciling at month-end takes an evening you did not budget for.
Family members pay on behalf of the tenant. The rent comes from the tenant's brother's line, or a mother's number, or a friend's account. The sender number no longer matches the tenant on file, and the payment sits "unmatched".
Screenshots pile up on WhatsApp. Tenants send payment screenshots. You now have 40 WhatsApp images to scroll through when you want a clean list of who paid in June.

The single-property landlord
You own a two-bedroom flat in Spintex. Your tenant pays ₵1,800 a month via MTN MoMo. Before PadiRent, you would check the SMS, add it to a notebook, and hope you remembered by year-end.

What it will not do
- PadiRent does not touch the money. MoMo stays between you and the tenant, on the network you already use. We log, we do not transact.
- PadiRent does not chase tenants for you. We show you who is late. You send the WhatsApp message. (In-app reminders are on the roadmap.)
- PadiRent does not issue tax receipts on your behalf. Payment records and exportable history — yes. GRA-formatted receipts — not yet.

Do I need to connect my MoMo account? No. You log payments manually with a tap. The money flow stays where it already is.
